A semi-rare hybrid that begins to look as if its caught fire as it matures much like its parent ionantha. This species stays pretty small, but is a true delight. At maturity, tillandsia bloom and produce "babies". Most of its leaves turn bright red as a short red flower scape barely breaches the leaves, pushing out purple flowers.
