Alocasia Frydek (Alocasia micholitziana ‘Frydek’) is a stunning tropical perennial native to tropical regions of Southeast Asia. The Frydek grows stunning, large arrow-shaped leaves with thick white veins. Also called the Green Velvet plant, the Alocasia Frydek grows well indoors if it gets enough light and humidity.
Watering: Check weekly, water if top 25% of soil is dry during Spring and Summer months. Reduce watering during Fall and Winter to avoid overwatering.
Light Requirements: Medium to bright indirect sunlight.
Humidity Needs: Moderate to high, 70% and above is ideal.
Soil Preference: A well-draining potting mix is ideal. 20% perlite and standard potting mix is recommended.
Fertilizing: Use a balanced fertilizer 1-2x a month in spring and summer. Cease feeding in winter months.
Repotting: Pot up 2" in Spring or Summer when plant becomes root bound.

Common Issues: Crisping due to lack of humidity is a common issue, a pebble tray nearby or underneath can assist. Also keep an eye out for common plant pests that love the humidity levels of alocasias.
